Ryzen Build Incoming!

4.3 is about average for an OC on that cpu and 4.5 is exceptional .

The GPU is what I want to overclock I'm scared I might void my warranty
Don't worry about the gpu..if the oc doesn't work it won't fry the card. In fact, all of the cards these days have locked voltages so you literally can not fry your card.

Download MSI afterburner and add 50 to the core clock and if it does well then keep doing 50 at a time. If the benchmark crashes, back it off 25 and adjust from there.

I am late to the party but your new build is awesome! Is it me that is mistaking or you did change your power cables as well?

Finally got the LEDS replaced in the light box and I'm working on replacing the bottom door.

Okay, I actually took some pictures with a real camera. No editing other than cropping so you can see what a difference a real lens makes.

Oh, I added an M.2 EKWB heatsink

So on my lunch break i decided to price up a mid range Ryzen system for giggles. Looking at Ryzen 5 I figure the 20 dollar difference between 4 and 6 core is a no brainer.

What kills me is scrolling down the single core performance benchmark. I scrolled for days before I hit the first AMD processor. Yeah the likely hood of me saving a few dollars to build AMD is kinda grim looking.

I do think people discount the idea of having extra cores too much. It's not just the game running, that screen capture software, maybe an anti virus. All that shit has to run somewhere. But I am still paying attention to the performance some terribly coded game is going to give me.

Meh, you see the same thing on Xeons as well. I think what's easy to forget is that this cpu at it's most basic level was not designed for average Home PC use. All I can tell you is that it's a way better user experience for me, even if not by much in some areas.

Edit:

What you're also not seeing is any Ryzen OC benchmarks for single thread performance in most cases.

Right "a real lens" Dildos dildos everywhere....

What was the final damage to the wallet?

$785 but that's only because I used EVGA bucks I'd earned to get the sleeved cables for free :)

All said and done, that paid for new :
CPU, RAM, MB, PETG tubing, M2 Heatsink, 3 new fans, and new o-rings, one LED strip, and two bottom case door replacements.

Edit: call it $800 but that's for a combo of new stuff and replacement parts.
