Yay RC helicopters FTW. BTW it's real, and the pilot didn't have to fit in there because it's an RC (Radio/Remote Controlled) helicopter.
I was going to buy one myself... but I got discouraged by how much money I had to spend on it, and how much money you have to spend on it if you crash it (and you will, over and over), and the tools/knowledge I have to have etc. You actually do have to know quite a bit about radio/electronics/engineering/engines/avionics to properly build/run/repair even an RC heli... so I wasn't up for it... yet. Maybe someday.
I did buy a ripoff simulator and a USB mock-up radio and play with them once in a while though... and let me tell you - it looks fun and easy but it's fucking HARD as hell to even do a single flip properly - or just fly upside down in all orientations.
I mean... all those tiny movements and everything perfectly synchronized and so close to the ground (no room for errors whatsoever) is just frightening. It's kinda sad that these guys hardly get any recognition for it, but flying a heli with such force, precision, and confidence (even though they're sponsored so I doubt they buy any parts ever lol) is like performing Rachmaninoff's 3rd piano concerto. The pro guys have been flying almost every day for years (on simulators, or real) to be this good... and Alan Jr./Danny Szabo (they're brothers) are arguably THE best.
Anyway, as good as the video above is, I'll give you probably the best I've ever seen (on youtube anyway). The first time I saw it, I kinda shat my pants (twice). Even though even the Szabos crash once in a while, I'm having serious doubts that they're human (as are other people btw).
