This really makes me wonder if game programmers are really that horrible or if they are using an engine somebody else designed that has super sloppy coding. Either way, all multiplayer games lately seem to perform like shit on PCs...which also tells me developers are still trying to write these games for consoles and then adapt them towards PCs which as we have seen repeatedly now DOES NOT work. Black Ops is the latest bastard child to join the family...


A combination of stuttering and lag <!-- Item fulltext --> It seems that no matter whether you have the best of the best in PC hardware, it is no match for the stuttering and lag issues that buyers of the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops are experiencing. As the number of reports and unhappy PC players of the title continue to grow, the developers at Treyarch continue to try to determine a course of corrective action to resolve the issue.

The lag seems to be more pronounced in the multiplayer modes, while the stuttering issues that max out the CPU seem to be worst in the moments in the game with the least amount of action or in the cut scenes, for example. Speculation seems to be that a memory leak might be the problem, but so far that is just speculation from what users are reporting.

Treyarch has not officially responded to the complaints, but some forum posts confirm that they are aware of the issue and are working on the problem. At this point there continues to be no official word of when to expect a patch, but we believe that they are working on one.

The reported PC server browser issues that seemed to have been a problem right at launch have apparently been resolved by some server side adjustments, according to the whispers that we hear. PC version Black Ops still has issues
 
Like I said on another post, game companies have to meet a deadline, and if the window is closing, they slap codes together in hopes that it will work so that the fans will buy. Plus it doesn't help that they have people do pre-orders and come to find out it's indeed a pos at best.

I have heard a lot of ups and downs about black ops in general. And that I mean console and PC versions. PS3 seems to be doing great as far as server lag, there is virtually none at a given time. Xbox 360 on the other hand has some good ones, depending on the host that started up a match. And PC is just a fail so I have heard. Only to find out that they only have one server they go with, and that it's really not great, hence the lag issues and the rage gamers are having. More like fits and tantrums, but I am sure Infinity Ward will work with other game server companies to supply better hostings at an affordable price. Then again they might say "fuck the players" (pardon my language), and not do anything about this situation.

Those are game companies for you, and most are like this. Only a select few actually have their shit in gear and ready for launch before the actual date of release.
 
I'm with ya, Sixer. But I have faith that one day, PC gaming will rise from the ashes like a phoenix. And all the console nubs will get fragged in a blaze of glory so great, there will be no doubt that the PC is the king of all systems. We will punish them in such a one-sided manner that they will repent for their sins, and bow at our virtual 8000dpi feet. HEADSHOT!!!!

IDK. Few people seem to be connosieurs these days.

In a couple of years maybe there will be games which will clearly rise above the consoles' level, and perhaps then we will clearly see the consoles age... but then they'll just release new consoles and everyone will still make games for them first.

The technology in consoles is now 3-4 years old, but unfortunately games are not past it by much.

Perhaps we've reached the end of Moore's law in gaming? Perhaps the tech in the Xshit 360 is enough for the general public and nobody really wants more?

I'm all for upgrading every year IF games really make it worth it, but it makes less and less sense if we're still seeing poor ports with PS3 graphics eveywhere...
 
Too bad they made such a killing in the early sales, they will probably be reticent to correct it.

I have a quick almost off the topic question; How does anyone play 360 on a standard TV? (e.g. using basic AV cables) I tried playing MW2 and BF2 on the 360 and I couldn't see more than 10 ft in front of me clearly. All the spots people were camping were blurred.
I can't see having a console if the games suck this bad :/. Also I noticed my aim sucks so bad now on the 360 compared to PC/Xbox original.
 
Yeah my brother has a PS3 and he just uses the standard (SCART - in Europe) connection here to a 720p TV. It sucks so much ass! I felt like I was back in the 90's.

Blurry shits everywhere and the aliasing was just insane.

I think it's a bit better than that with a HDMI cable on 720p or even 1080p, but they're starting to show their age a bit.

Like I say, 2 more years and the difference should hopefully be big enough to release newer consoles.
 
I bought the best sony bravia 32 tv on the market it was 750 bucks the 360 looks great on it I run it at 1080 p res and the tv is also my puter monitor.The tv supports 1920 res for puter gaming so cod5 looks killer.but when it comes to tv,s its the contrast ratio mine is 150 k and now there is infinite.the lower the ratio the suckier.trust me there is a difference!
 
I as well. Consoles are evil. Plus you can't upgrade a consoles internals unless you know what your doing :)
