NVIDIA today officially announced its RTX 3090, RTX 3080, and RTX 3070 video cards with Ampere GPUs, including specifications, cooler design, pricing, and release dates.

Specs and pricing below if you dont want to watch the video:

RTX 3090, $1500: "Worlds first 8K gaming card."

RTX 3080, $699: 4K gaming card. Claims twice the performance of the 2080 at nearly half the price of a current 2080.

RTX 3070, $499: Claims faster performance than the 2080 at the price of a current 2070.

Looks like their pricing for the 3000 series will be much more competitive than the 2000 series was. Maybe we will even see substantial price drops on last gen GPU's as a result (if you're in the market, keep your finger on the trigger. theres already a shortage and a price drop will clear inventory).

going to get a 3080 myself....my old 4670k, Z97 mother, 16gb of 2133 with my old 1070 should get me about 450 to 500 of the 700 i will need when i sell it.....cant wait

I hope EVGA does the 3080 Hydro-copper. The last time I got a gpu, the 1080ti, they were so far behind coming out with that I ended up putting on the gpu block myself and it's always a pia taking off Nvidia's fan shroud and cover. It's a waste of about an hour and by that point I just want to set fire to all the spare parts I'll never use again lol. I love that EVGA sells it all ready to go for water cooling.

I'm definitely getting a 3070 if AMD doesn't come out with anything new before November. Hopefully they will and I can stick to team red :P

Is there a benefit this time to go with a AIB card now that nvidia has stepped up their cooler game? Nvidia keeps the top chips and sends the rest out to partners. I'm just curious if the FTW3 3080 will also end up being $150 more like it was for the 20 series.

I may go reference this time since the cooling solution looks really good
 
I'm sure that once the reviewers get their hands on the partner's various models, the choices will be easier to make. As always, the supply for the first run will likely be hard to come by before they sell out. There should be a lot more information out there to help you by release date.

if you want to OC, the price increase is worth it i guess.

@JoeLeb has EVGA said if theyre going to do preorders? or when they will be available for sale?


 
Unrelated, AMD is rumored to be announcing their new GPU line October 7th. I'd expect it might be earlier with the release of these new cards, but who knows.
Personally while I am interested in what AMD has to offer, NVIDIA's new pricing seems hard to beat for the lower 2 cards.
 
i think nvidia kept prices the same( as well allowed more than their typical 25% performance increase), in response to both consoles, and the potential of big NAVi. I think had nvidia done their typical generational improvement, people would not be as hyped and would be waiting for the AMD cards. The rumors say their next card should outperform the 2080, hopefully 2080ti, id like to see AMD start taking market share of the mid range as well. only benefits us as consumers tbh

Looks like I'll be buying a 3060 or 3070..3060 is said to be RTX 2080 performance.
 
This card is now 3 card width. Is there a point where it's too wide for your internal guys, or it draws too much power and you actually have to upgrade other parts?

The 3080 is described as a "2.9" slot card so it might still fit just barely in dual slot spaces that have some extra wiggle room. It won't take up 3 expansions slots on the back of your tower though.
As for power requirements, I think they said around a 700-800W psu will do the job

I've got the 1000W G3 and that thing, while tiny in size, is an absolute beast. I love that I can run everything I want and OC the hell out of the cpu and gpu and on it and have more than enough power. 10 year warranty to boot...you can't go wrong :)
 
it depends on the makers.....ASUS already has versions of the 3080 that will NOT take up more room then 2 slots....as for power supplies nvidia has said flout out that even the 3090 wont need more then a 750 watt PSU for the whole system when paired with things like the 10900K or a 3900X....

what most people forget about power supplies.....the ratings numbers have been changed.....3.3 and 5 volt rails both get 20 amps each that are NOT factored in to the total wattage of the PSU.....ONLY THE 12 VOLT RAIL IS FACTORED.....my EVGA 750 G3 proves this.....
