So my first computer as a kid was an 80286. It was likely a clone of an IBM 5170. My father thinks it might have been a Sperry he brought home from work but that hasn't gotten me any close to finding pictures.

This is what I believe the front of the case looked like:

This is my design so far to replicate it (still pretty early on):

I bought a Silverstone Gandia GD09:

Created a rough model of it to get started:

The base of the rig will be the 6700K/Z170 parts I got from manny a year or so ago along with my original rigs PSU. I have been selling stuff to get the rest. Picked up an RTX 2060 and other than the case cladding the water cooling is my next step.

Originally I wanted to run a monitor mount through the case. But I have a feeling a stand alone base straddling the case is more likely.

I think a grill would look more sleek.

Are you gonna do eggshell white for the case? Or whatever offwhite those old IBM's were

Gotten a little more work done. Fighting the 120 rad on the left. This model's accuracy isn't quite enough to trust so hopefully I pick up the rad soon to check. Its pretty close to the PSU, If I cut into the lid stamping I can get it away from the 2nd row of power cables. I honestly wanted it turned side ways but it will definitely will be against the PSU and i will have to cut into the face a lot.

would be bad ass if you could use real wood on this and give it a nice finish with some stain.....i have seen some blue stains or dyes i would love to use on speakers...here take a look

Got the radiators today. Surprised microcenter had them as cheap as they do. Tested the 240 inside and out even though it's going outside. The 120 is definitely going sideways and closer to the case to not interfere with the PSU. Can't mock that until I cut the case.

Got a decent deal on the Res I originally used in my design. Thought I was going to end up with a Monsoon instead.

$95 at microcenter. Listed for $219 at EKWB (super specific version). The pump alone sleeved they try to charge $109 for. Only 2 left in stock in the state I drove all the way back to get one tonight.
