I posted months ago about the high pings on Karkand and was told the ceiling for kick was to be set back to 250.

Hate to bother you but in the last few days, I noticed with
Xfire that there were several over that.

One was 407 and another 386. Several others over 250. I will send pictures next time.

Great server, lots of fun but those high pings are really causing me to lag bad. Could be that my connection, thats not so great, is not helping.

It was set for 300, I just changed it back to 250. I'm not a big believer that ping affects latency on the server but it's been changed regardless.

Thank you too :)

I have excellent ping (30 to 45) but I actually lagged horribly myself yesterday evening.

First time that happened - so I did not make much of it. Wanted to make a post yesterday, so that somebody can check if there was something wrong with the server itself - but decided not to bother you guys on a Friday night.

Also not sure on the ping/latency, but it cannot hurt.

It's more of a server hardware issue. If the server has the hardware it will more than be able to compensate for another players ping. We have our 2142 servers set to 350 and we never experience lag from it. If we are getting server side lag it's probably one of the 20 other things happening on the server at the same time. Most people don't take into consideration that it's one physical server hosting multiple instances of a game or games running simultaneously. If something is happening with one game application it can have an impact on all of the other games hosted on that server. Because we run a "dedicated" box we have the ability to monitor resource usage and see if one game is impacting the rest of the services on that box. This is one of the reasons our servers tend to run better than most out there. We make sure we aren't straining our hardware. Other clans may rent only slots on a server where the RSP may not really care how the actual applications are being impacted.

There is some work being done on networks on the East coast. Trace routes to our 2142 servers from Ohio are losing packets in Cleveland today. Last week it was Washington. Hopefully they will hurry the fuck up so I'm not dropping packets anymore.

I thought it was the extensive collection of porn we were also hosting on our servers that was causing the lag. Last time I believe Heatsurge.

I have 100 ping doesnt effect me and if it did i know what i have to do about it
