I have ben noticing a lot of game stuttering in the TBG server Maps#2.
It usualy happens when the enemy is near or I am in a shooting match
with the enemy or just before.
Its like the game has framerate issues then I get killed.
Tonight around 11pm eastern time the game actualy CTDed with no warning. (Crash to Desktop)
I havent had that happen in a long time.
I has been more often around certain players.
I'll try and keep track of the players who it happens near if it happens again.
Tried to get screen shots when it happens but it doesnt happen all the time.
Also I see my ping goes up and down from around 22 to 89.
My ping stays around 22-35 I don't have the problem.

Let me answer questions befor anyone tries to help.
I have well above the system requirements to play the game.
I have FIOS 15/2 internet.
I have several hard drives with muliple operating systems XP pro, Vista32, and Vista64.
Started happening to my Vista drives but is happening on the XP ones now.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Here's what I would do:

1. Completely remove PB. (Delete the pb folder and do a reinstall.)
2. If you haven't deleted your games cache in a while you should do that. It's located under XP in C:/My Documents/2142.

That should fix your problem. I've had that happen a few times when I didn't clean the cache or PB was acting funny.

As I mentioned the HD's with differen't operating systems are clean installs with only 2142 on them. Can't quite put my finger on the problem. I look at the router info an it seems I get quite a lot of packet garbage sent my way when I play 2142.

Hmm... have you tried looking in the Event Viewer for Windows XP? Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer.

Check to make sure that everything is running OK with 2142. The other thing could be a driver issue, or maybe overheating? If you want, I'm on our Ventrilo right now. I'd be more then happy to help you with your issue ;).

I've been having a problem lately with FIOS, probably the last 4 days. My ping went from 15 to 85 on our servers, it's back down to 35 but that's still unacceptable. I did a tracert and found a bad hop in Lawton, OK. Now the real question is why the fuck am I going to Oklahoma to get to Virginia from New Jersey? Do a tracert to the server IP and see if anything looks funky.

Thanks Soulzz I'll have to do that Ventrillo another time.

I have been noticing a FIOS problem lately. And Verizon has been doing a lot work in my neighborhood.

Played Saturday nigh without any problems.
Complete uninstall of the game and reinstall like this.
Main game 1.10 ran update 1.2 installed NorthernStrike updated to 1.5. All seems well.

EA messsage forums say this is a continuing problem of lately. Say its related to people hacking by using a protocal overload. Its like sending bad packets to the server they are playing on to make everyone have a higher ping. while they are amune to the packet overload and appear to be faster and unable to kill. Players with faster systems may notice this as a studdering when near these players. Update your punkbuster manualy sometimes catches these people and they get a heartbeeat violation and get punkbusted out of the server.
