Wasp Nest Overkill

A Chinese village has a wasp problem, thanks to a gigantic nest at the top of a tree. For some reason, the military is brought in to deal with the problem the only way they know how - with a flamethrower.

Makes sense. They probably didn't have anyone nearby that had the equipment to get that high up nor the equipment to deal with a nest that large. Good training opportunity.
