wtf!! so I am running just one 680 and the game looks better? Bad card from the start?

Could be but you should also know that SLI can be problematic period. Varies game to game and card model as well. Some games run worse in SLI. Many suffer from microstutter which may or may not be noticeable. But that's worse with low end cards usually nothing worth mentioning on high end cards.

I should have got the 690 4gb vrs two 680's........
I did some fraps and my vids even look better...I feel like I got ripped off now:/

The 690 is still pretty much the same deal. Its still SLI but the connection between the GPUs is shorter and better.

I'm actually surprised Renno has good luck with recording and SLI. play claws own developers will tell you recording and dual GPU is not a good mix. But plenty of people do it so I find they saying that funny.

It was probably just a bad card the whole time we shall find out soon.

I have always had good luck with EVGA and standing behind the products they sell. I had problems with my P67 when it first came out with a defect on some boards. They cross shipped me a new board without question. Good luck getting it fixed and back up and running.

The problem inherent with SLI is the fact that the rendering has to switch from one card to the next results in micro-stuttering. Here's a really well written article from techreport.com on it:

Inside the second: A new look at game benchmarking - The Tech Report - Page 11

All that being said I still run SLI and only randomly notice the issues they are talking about but I don't really run any games that push my system to its limits.

ya had shuttering with my 460's

part of why I built a new PC, Evga Z77 FTW mother board , i7 3770k cpu , 32 gigs ram and 2 GTX 680's Super clocked ,., I hope to get my other card back by Monday at the latest . did next day air fedex ...
I have to have SLI . always have and always will . SLI FTMFW!!!
still need a solid state hard drive tho. If TcRENNO was a nice guy he would give me his :D

Why one? What you need are two SSDs striped together into a RAID0 set for your C: drive. Cuz... ya know... that's what I have, and I load those BF3 maps *snap* just like that. :)

I trust ya, sooo im gonna save for two now. When I get them you have to help me set it up in RAIDO because I have no clue how too :/

Before you save money for a second drive, make sure that

  • You're OK with reformatting and re-installing Windows (again!)
  • Your system has a RAID controller on the motherboard (it probably does) and you have the drivers for it.
  • You can back your C: drive up somewhere in case of RAID failure.

I'm mostly busting your balls about it Fubes. Bear in mind that I'm OK with a RAID0 C: drive because I have active back-ups of my system. The problem with RAID0 is: it's fast, but if one of the drives takes a shit, the entire filesystem is toast.

I'd say if you were assembling a new system from scratch, then consider it. But to add it to an existing is going to be a PITA.
