Hey guys I'm wondering if we have any street bike riders here.

Suzuki has a great deal right now and I am trying to get a 09 GSX650F.
Price I got is about $5500+Tax. So with finance charge its about $6000 over 5 years.
(I plan on paying it off early though.)

Anyone here ridden both Harley style and Street style? Which do you prefer and why.
I am not going to be cross country driving with it, just to and from work and when I go to Valdosta and such.
I did the math and will save $77+/mo in fuel if I only drive the bike half the time during the month.
I currently have an Astro Van and an F-150, the Astro is up for sale. When it sells I will be putting that money on the bike to get it paid down some.

I have looked high and low for a bike within 250 miles and the best deal I found was around Orlando.

This will be my first bike (I've had a 250cc scooter when I was 12) and ridden a few dirt bikes.

Does this look like a good fit?
I like the "crotch-rocket" style but this bike lets you sit back farther so you don't have to have anal sects with the gas tank.

I have owned and worked on both. For city driving I prefer sport bikes. One I can flip through the turns and other street obstacles quickly with. However if you plan on doing any kind of cruising don't hesitate to get a cruiser. They are highly customizable and a blast to go far on. Really depends on what your goals are. Planning a Sturgis trip? Bike week in Florida or South Carolina? Bar hopper? If its just a get to work and back bike stick with the Suzuki.

I have several of both styles in the garage. Bob pretty much summed it all up. the Suzuki will make a great commuter.

I MIGHT go to Sturgis, bike week is also a maybe (not likely though).
I may try to take it to FL when I go down also.

Florida roads are a blast to drive on. Most are well kept and there are some roads that are a must, like taking A1A from, say like Melbourne to New Smyrna Beach. Coming from the northern part is good too, I just used Melbourne as I used to live there and took that route to Daytona Beach a lot. Hell I think I've been just about everywhere in Florida on a bike or two. Good times.

He's right on-the sport bikes are great for shorter commutes, but if you do any distance get a cruiser for sure and save yourself some back aches.

I've decided that with Co-Signing being the only option and the $6800 final price tag after tax and interest I will not be going that route.

I have set my sights on a 2010 Suzuki GZ250 (Marauder).
MSRP: $2999. IDK what the cost will be at a dealer though. I figure add $99 (eBay) for a windshield and $275 (eBay) for a sissy bar w/ Luggage rack. (The sissy bar is absurd in price. I'm sure I can make one for less than $150.)

Well, changed again. I been talking with my uncle who has been a biker most of his life and said that the GZ250 is just an upgrade from a scooter.

So I am looking at an 08' Yamaha V Star Custom 650.

~$4,000 so its a grand more, but a lot more bike for the money. Has 5000 miles on it.
