Every time I try to play any BF games online, I get kicked off because of some PunkBuster thing. How do I fix this so I can get back into the game?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

I've got all of the updates and patches that I could find, my internet connection is secure, my accounts are all active. I'm just so befuddled....
 
Have you tried reinstalling PunkBuster? Sometimes it goes foul for some reason. Also could you PM you IP to either Soulzz or myself? You might be under a subnet ban for people around you cheating which is no fault of your own. That and what's your in game name? Is it SPCJennerman?

Yes, my game name is SPCJennerman. I'm running Vista 64bit, but all of my knowledge is with XP, so I have no clue how to find out my IP Addy.


Can you send me a link so I can check for PunkBuster updates?

First you'll need to delete your original PB, here's your route for it: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\pb

As far as Vista goes, I can't help you because I'm still on XP waiting on Windows 7 official.

According to PBBans you don't have a game-wide ban but as far as a subnet ban I'll need your IP. You can post it on here or PM it to me. You can get it at: http://www.whatismyip.com/

Ok, right before it disconnects me, it gives me this message:

PB: IMPORTANT: RESTRICTION: Service Communication Error: PnkBstrA.exe

Ok I looked and there's nothing on you for an IP ban not Alias or any game hack.

That leaves one culprit, PunkBuster. The evil devils tool to punish all gamers! Just delete PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB then reinstall them using this link: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-bf2142.php Click on the For Players link and download that and everything should be good. Let me know if this does or doesn't work for you.

I've deleted and reinstalled PB twice now, and it still hasn't fixed the problem. Where do I go now?
 
Also Heatsurge could you delete his IP off this post? No need for it to be public knowledge.
 
Have you tried Ctrl+Alt+Del and manually stopping PnkBstrA and B and then restarting them? That or maybe a possible comp restart?
 
My computer doesn't show PunkBuster running separate from 2142.

I have to re-install all of my updates, so I'll give it another shot tomorrow. I hate computers. I never had this problem with my XP desktop......
 
Sorry to hear you're having trouble man, if you still have your XP discs feel free to revert back. If any of us can be of any help to you let us know.

1. If you haven't already, please disable UAC.
1.a Go to Start - Control Panel - Type UAC in the search box - Click Turn User Account Control On or Off. - If the box is checked, uncheck it and restart.

2. If your PB services aren't running, make sure you aren't running any sort of firewall in the background preventing it from running.

3. Before running PBSVC.exe, make sure both PnkBster.A and B.exe are both running and set to automatic. If either one of them isn't showing up, you need to do run pbsvc.exe and reinstall the punkbuster issues. If you are still having issues, please update this thread and I will be more then happy to help.
 
How have you uninstalled and reinstalled punkbuster?

If you have done so some other way, try this:
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe

It's a proper uninstaller/tester for PunkBuster.

Even though it checks out OK after uninstall/reinstall, sometimes it wants a restart... try uninstall/restart/reinstall with the above utility if you haven't.

A search for UAC turned up nothing. I tried disabling my firewall, and that didn't help.

I'm waiting for PBSVC to download.
 
Hey easy fix. When running BF2142.

Right click on icon and run as administrator. That should fix your problem

Thats and easy way.

But soulzz way of disableing UAC should fix it also.
