Mortar/UCAV Limit on BF4 Rush

Hello,

This past week, following the DLC bug that restricted access to the UCAV, overall playability and player satisfaction on the server noticeably improved. Many players agreed that with UCAVs out of the equation, more people focused on playing the objectives, leading to a much more engaging and balanced experience.

However, now that the bug has been fixed, playability has declined again. Just looking at the map, it's common to see 10–13 players camping in their spawns without engaging in attack or defense. Meanwhile, a portion of the player base primarily relies on Mortars and UCAVs, and I don't want to alienate them.

To address this, I recommend implementing a limit of three Mortars and three UCAVs per team. Before making this change, you could create a poll to gather player feedback. An auto-admin message could notify players on the RUSH server, allowing them to vote on whether or not to support this adjustment.

There are multiple EU servers where Mortar and UCAV limits are enforced, resulting in rounds that many players find more enjoyable and fair.

With this limitation it would be extremely beneficial for the playbase, as there are very little BF4 servers populated and more experienced players already make the game unenjoyable for most newcomers and old players coming back.

I highly agree with 3 on either side, however it can sometimes be troublesome depending on how skilled each user is so this will definitely help with player cohesion and it won't please everybody.

We have not (and I do not support) ever limiting/restricting guns/equipment/vehicles in the Battlefield series. It's in the game by default, placing limit restrictions opens a huge can of worms that I can only see being a negative.

Thanks for taking the time to post the feedback.

Since our inception in battlefield and that is a very long time ago, we have never restricted any weapons. Rush server that has been around since 2013 has always been free of any kind of restriction.

In 2024/2025 - 11 to 12 years later, making a change to this server is not ideal.

As a community, our members held a meeting once and few discussions were had, and it was decided to leave all weapons available.

Whilst I can understand and respect leaving the server rules/conditions to the raw game and what was implemented, I do believe limitations should be instated, especially regarding mortars and UCAV equipment. As stated above the main objective to be considered is player enjoyment and satisfaction, weighing the options you'll either be conforming/comforting a select few players who enjoy nothing but to sit in the very back of the map where they can't be touched by 95% of the players in the match, and who most of the time require to be taken out by being given a dose of their own medicine (for reference in case it's foggy I'm referring to UCAV's and slightly Mortars), Or you'd be conforming to the majority of the players who are either returning to enjoy a game that they once loved and enjoyed or maybe just revisiting, either way being met by a UCAV'er who's on a 50+ killstreak sitting in the back of the map is understandably irritating. It'd be less of an issue if it wasn't 90% of games that this was occurring, however that's the hot topic. Being one of the top/mostly only server based in the US for Rush that is continuously populated, I believe it to be your responsibility to conform to the player base of people who are actively playing your server, not always because they want to, but because they have to to enjoy a populated server.

As mentioned above, no one's looking to straight ban UCAV from the utilities and equipment, merely a limitation of players able to use it, to help with community enjoyment of the game we are all here to enjoy. I believe some sort of limitation to be in order. Whilst my opinion is merely that: my opinion, I can't force these rules or objectives upon a server or a community that I do not officially speak for. But that being said, I believe that I speak for a number of players in this matter. I do not believe this forum to be a sufficient pooling of community opinion to be able to gage opinion off of. For that I have no solution I can suggest.

I merely ask to consider that a game that's 12-13 years old be considered as having been mostly abandoned for the better part of a decade and therefore balance never truely achieved.

I urge Server Owners/Administrators to consider what I've said and to consider imposing limitations for the majority of the populus that come to enjoy your servers.

I can appreciate your opinion and we can say a whole bunch is in favor of this move. I can also tell you a whole bunch is not in favor of this.

Do I personally like Ucav? No, I would actually love to forbid it but we don't. We have never used limitation or restriction on any of our BF servers. This is how it has always been here well before BF4.

"Shall not be infringed."

Infringe: to encroach upon in a way that violates law or the rights of another

Encroach: to enter by gradual steps or by stealth into the possessions or rights of another

In other words, you nibble at it until there's nothing left but a spork to defend your loved ones from those who force them into the camps.

No reply necessary.

I feel the opposite. Noobs camping corners in rush waiting on a perfect shot is painful for us veterans of the game. Why? Cause, that isn't a winning formula for rush. It's takes a lot of play to figure that out. However, for many years I struggled at this game. So, I'll be patient with the noobs.

I love ucaving. Yet, it's not fair to cav from spawn IMO or, from parts of the map which is denied the opposition. A ucaver is untouchable and that kinda ruins the spirit of play. I miss bf1942. The opposition could go where the other team was hiding. There was no place safe. Too bad BF4 doesn't have that. A tip for ucavers. Arm the mcom and cav from that spot. It's not easy. Yet, it's a ton of fun circling the ucav back at you, just in time to take out the opposing force closing in on a disarm. It's vid worthy.
