Next Generation, literally means Next Generation. Its been programmed into peoples silly heads that next generation means mind blowing. I also would never worry about 1080P as 75 to 90% of your core audience is using a 720P television.

It doesn't matter how powerful the console is. You can put a GTX 780 Ti in it and the first "Next Gen" game put out will purposely use that GPU to 100% usage and only putting out 30 FPS at 1080P. These studios are obsessed with tapping every ounce of power to up the ante even if it makes for a shitty performing game. They have lost their minds. So of course you build an affordable computer and its not going to do well at all.
