I wanted to do one of these but trashed my original attempt. Hearing people like @smokerob79 say they never made it to orbit in the game and having spent hours in the past learning myself. I figured I would make a tutorial.
If you know how to play the game you can be in orbit on your second flight after a total of 6 minutes. If you've never played the game before youll have to slow down a bit to learn how it works.
I do have a follow up suggestion for a better orbiter build. Instead of 4 stacks of 3 and 3 swivel engines. Do 3 stacks of 4, 1 swivel in the center and 2 non swivel on the outside. It has better power to weight ratio, better fuel economy. It will fly quicker farther and faster:
