Has anybody built one of these? I have been wheeling around for 6-8mths and haven't really came up with a solid conclusion yet. What I have set up is going to be around 900 bones; and I already have HD's and a processor. Also, my system will offload graphics via intergrated graphics so no GPU. Let me know if I'm missing something here:
Case: Antec Steel Fusion LCD w/ remote
Wireless Adapter: Linksys WMP110 802.11b/g/n PCI RangePlus
Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1
MB: ASUS M3A78-EM 780G
TV Tuner: Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250
Blue Ray Drive: LG Black 6X BD-ROM
OS: Vista Ultimate 32bit
Power Supply: Thermaltake 450W
Memory: OCZ 4GB DDR800

That's about the same specs I have on my Newegg Wish list. I chose an EVGA motherboard, no sound card, no wireless adapter, Silverstone case, and everything else pretty much the same :).

When I get a house someday, I'll just get my regular PC hooked up to a projector probably, or a really big 1080p TV... so I don't really get the HTPC craze... but if you want to keep 'em separated (regular PC and HTPC) it makes sense.

My office and HDTV are at opposite ends of the house. Soulz can you list your parts for your HTPC

I know this is a older post but was wondering if anyone has built one yet? I was wondering what type of displays will be used and how well they have performed for viewing Blue Ray or DVD content?

What types of displays will be used??

You can hook up just about anything probably, but it's probably best to get a 1080p HDTV.

Sorry, I meant that some people might have them hooked up to different size TV's like 42" LCD 50 " Plasma's and so on. I some what understand the differences in 720, 1080I and P. I was wondering how a computer looks in quality of playback to a reg DVD player. Reason I asked was I just built one but haven't installed OS yet. I was waiting on a new TV since mine is 8 years old and not compatible. I just want to know ahead of time what to expect once I get it up and running. I should have explained it better but I was tired and going to bed at time I posted.

My TV will be a 42" plasma 720p
