CPU, MOBO, RAM recommendations

I think there is a tweak guide out there. Might want to take a look at it.

Fixed the keyboard, the USB jack on the the mobo wasn't working so the unifying receiver wasn't being seen by the PC. I plugged it into the front of my machine and now it works, will have to figure out what's up with my USB ports on the rear.

If any of the usb 3 ports arent working id blame the z77 as ivy bridge brought native 3.0 support z68 boards used a controller.

If the red ports or whatever are not working make sure your last 16x slot if u have a 3rd is in 1x mode not 4x.

I "think" I plugged into a 2.0 port, but honestly I'm not sure. I'll have a deeper look at it this coming Wednesday which will be my Saturday.

USB 3.0 drivers have loaded seperatly, go the website there have been a few updated to the z77 boards. Mine didn't work for while, after the last update they started working.

Also bios needs to updated, I think we are on bios 12 compared to the ver9 when I bought the board in June.

Roger that, can you use usb 2.0 components in a 3.0 slot? That is to say are they backwards compatible?

Didnt you build with an ivy bridge cpu though?

Yes, I boult with an ivy bridge, but the updates are mainly for the z77 board

Actually looks like the USB 3.0 is on the chipset from Intels diagram. So then if thats the case I am wrong and yeah ith proper drivers it will work. They always said the USB 3 was going to be on the CPU and running a Sandy on Z77 would lack USB 3.0 on any native ports.

As promised sixer, all that nice hardware in this shitbox. I think I'm going to get that nice cheap Carbide case, I like the look and I need to throw a real CPU fan on anyhow.

Wtf is all that gaggle fuck of wires
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727

They call it "Classic prewired style" :p

Whats with the lack of fucking case fan dude. Get some air circulating for god sakes especially with that stock cpu cooler.

Thanks for posting the pics. Nice to see you got it up and running well. I have the same problem with the usb 3.0 ports on my Rampage III MB. If I plug my keyboard in there sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Simple solution, the keyboard goes on a USB 2.0 port. Oddly enough, the mouse is plugged into a 3.0 slot and I've never had a problem with it...go figure. I think it's just that it's a 3rd party driver and not part of the Intel chipset drivers. I mean, after all, who needs more speed from a USB port. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Intel has been fighting USB 3.0 in favor of their thundercrap is the bottom line here.

Rain I haven't had a case fan since 2009, hell I don't even know where the side panel to the case is anymore, haven't seen that since 2008...I could probably get in there with some zip ties Kris and unfuck that spaghetti bowl a little bit.

Seriously get a new case. It doesn't have to be an expensive one but one with cutouts for cable management and good airflow is key-filters if possible. Leaving it open like that can cause performance issues with dust build up and lack of airflow. A new case would drop temps probably 8-10C. Here are some that are $59.00 and have all that I mentioned just as examples. Plus, all the cases these days have bottom mounted psu slots which help case temps too.

New mouse was waiting at my door when I got home from work, yay. I hope it's good, my MX Revolution set the bar pretty damn high.

The new mouse was waiting at my door when I got home, hope it lives up to the MX Revolution it's replacing.
