Still going to be a good game but i hear servers will be exclusive to gameservers only? I wonder how many dicks they sucked to get that monopolistic deal. Damn shame...

There is an improved server browser on the pc for codblackops


Matchmaking on the pc is just letting the game pick a server in codblackops


There will be a Spectator mode in codblackops on the pc

Call of Duty Black Ops Reveal!
There's a massive event at the moment as I am typing in LA I believe that Treyarch are hosting giving Q&A + revealing info about multiplayer. I'll update this thread as more news comes.

Confirmed -

First off dedis will be rented from GameServers only! Unranked and ranked! Fully customisable!
There are dedicated server files but all servers only through gameservers.com only

Unranked servers will be fully customisable! Ranked you can customise the map/gametypes!

Spectator Mode confirmed and /record-demo option for PC confirmed!

Will be a Steam exclusive game using VAC,Server browser on PC, matchmaking on consoles.

There will be RCON tool and mod/map tools. Mod tools after release.

COD Points - Currency which you get as you play. No leveling up to get guns or attachments or perks. You buy with cod points what you want when you want it.

Contracts Time limited challenges that you purchase with COD Points (CP). Categories = Mercenaries, Operations, Specialist. Each is attached to certain play styles and in-game achievements.

Wager Match, you ante up and put your COD Points on the line and wager on matches. The top three players split the pot.

Four brand new game modes, separate from your standard rank progression in multiplayer competitive modes.
1)Sticks and Stones - you're equipped with a Crossbow and Throwing knife.
2)Gun Game - A series of progressive weapons, from pistol to shotgun to sniper rifle, granted to the player after kills.
3)Sharp Shooter - all players start with the same randomly selected weapon, which cycles. So everyone has the same weapon at the same time.
4)One in the Chamber, and everyone just has a pistol with one bullet and three lives.

"Combat Training" Combat Training is designed to introduce a new type of COD player and appeal to the player who never takes the game online.
Multiplayer training map with AI. Different rank progression. Aimed at players who don’t go online

Emblem Editor, I believe this is in Halo?

Differently painted guns with custom targeting reticules and decals on everything.
Flamethrowers, sniper rifles, shotguns... everything can be customized with stuff you've earned and unlocked.

Your character model shows up in the menus now, so you see how customization affects the look of your avatar.

No juggernaut/stopping power.

All things that you throw (grenades) are on your right bumper, all the things you throw to confuse are on your left bumper.
Motion Sensors (a personal UAV) and a signal Jammer.
Batch of special weapons that players will get in Care Packages — including the Death machine and Grim Reaper (mini-gun and grenade launcher)

Theater Mode Switch the player between any players perspective -- first or third person -- or free cam to move within a 3D space.
In the Theater, videos can be tagged, edited, searched.

albeit it seems as if it would be a great game, still disappointing with the max slot (unconfirmed) and the fact that only 1 gsp can host this (probably the fact that they introduced ranked shit and don't want it leaked). Now we have to order this server through another GSP if we want it. Stupid.

General
- Player ranks will go up to 50
- "Compete, Customize, Create"
-- Treyarch said that reaching rank 50 will take about as much time as reaching 65 in World at War
- There will be an ability to Prestige
-- No word on how many Prestige levels there may be
- The killcam is back for the end of the game, now called the "Final Killcam"
- Scoreboard will show your kills to deaths ratio
- The death icon on the scoreboard is the Purple Heart icon from World at War
- Dive moves initiated by sprinting and then going to prone
- Unlocks will primarily be handled through the use of "Call of Duty Points"
-- This in-game currency will be used to purchase new weapon unlocks
-- Used so as to not rely on reaching a new level to unlock a weapon every time as has been the case
-- Can be used as betting currency in the game's new "Wager Modes"
-- Earned through kills, wins, having a good K/D ratio, Wager Mode winnings
-- Flamethrower attachment is 750 points
-- Clan tags are 1000 points

PC Specifics
- Will include a server browser
- Will not be IW.net 2.0 and will not use P2P for matches like in MW2
- However, all dedicated servers must be rented through gameservers.com only
- Anti-Cheat will be Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC)
- DRM will be handled by Steamworks
-- Yes, this means the PC version will all be run through Steam
- Ranked servers allow you to customize/select the map only
-- 18 players max (UNCONFIRMED)
- Unranked servers will allow for "full customization"
-- 24 players max (UNCONFIRMED)


Modding
- Treyarch has confirmed that mod tools are in the works for the game
- These tools will not be released at launch but some time after launch
- No details on how extensive these tools will be


Maps
- Each map has specific challenges (Ex: Find a shortcut on the map)
- Map voting is between one of two maps, or for a random map (may not apply to PC version with server browser)
- Summit: Snow, mountain base area
- Launch: Map from the teaser trailer, has rockets
- Radiation: Power station
- Cracked: Broken-down town


Perks - General
- No deathstreaks
- Removal of commando, danger close, one many army, stopping power, and juggernaut
- Deaths are more in line with Call of Duty 2, where it takes a bit longer to kill someone
- "Warlord" is the new "Bling"
- "Pro Perks" return
- Tier 1 perks alter the appearance of your player model in some fashion

Obviously i'm not happy about that. My guess is to prevent leaked files because its their first time going ranked and to also prevent cheating. Don't matter. People will reverse engineer that shit somehow. Also its 18 slots for ranked and 24 for non ranked. Sad to say but Medal of honor seems more appealing.

Clan Tags are 1000 pts wtf? we shouldn't have to need points for this

As for 18 slots I kinda wish you could have 20 slots ranked and 40 sum for unranked...
However... As much as I LUV <3 game blood baths I have to agree that its alot more fun to have around 10 players on each side and not get spawn killed

As for Gameservers.com I know I have always had success with their servers and liked their quality. So Members of LAH (My Friends and I) will be getting 1 ranked 1 unranked one :)
