Holy Shit! That is insane - let's hope we get to run around with machice guns in an enviro like that.
Hardware must be beyond sweet.

...or in case you need 10 quad core xeon's and some tesla's

Very nice modeling and texturing, nice usage of dof effects.

The plants were very impressive (assuming he did not use some pre-made plugin to generate them), and even the human model moved realistically - a very significant accomplishment, even with the limited movements, especially if he used no mocap.

It started off quite slowly, but the last 5-6 minutes were quite good.

I really believe most of the scenes are quite possible with current hardware - especially after some cheap tricks that most games use nowadays. Maybe some with less detail - especially the plants where there was a LOT of geometry - and with less-detailed, non-as-dynamic lighting and uglier DoF... but definitely possible and even feasible.

The problem is that nobody buys artsy games for their visuals, and most people would rather make the "industry standard" visuals, rather than try to raise the bar.

Nevermind that a game of this caliber would not run well on the aging hardware of the PisS3 / Xshitflyingin360degrees.

Case in point: a recent game which tried hard to be artsy and it somewhat worked imo is "The Void," which I'm sure nobody has even heard of. The visual/aural style is very similar to this video, and the models/textures were quite good, but perhaps not AS good as this obviously...

I estimate about 5 people bought it worldwide...

Unfortunately people would rather go the safe way and make console-compatible FPS games with lots of tried-and-true elements.

Sure, upping the ante on visuals is great, but if you focus on that more then the game play, then you've got a problem.

The developers that seem to have the biggest consistency with the PC gaming community are Valve and Blizzard. If DICE does well with BF:BC2 and supporting it, I think they could be up there as well. We'll see, though.

that whole film was fake :O . it looked so real :D

between watching that and hours of guitar/drum videos on youtube, i feel i have no real talent in life. other than making babies.

I thought it was real too roth, that was amazing, very well made

WTF? Its either I am too hung over or the whole thing is just clever camera angles and maybe a lil CGI, nothng too impressive.
