going off of erik's thread, and inspired by heatsurge a little bit lol, I wrote a brief little war history of the battle of suez canal seeing, we play it everyday i think we should know a little bit about what and why we are fighting over the suez canal.
I used actual game material, from ea to base the History off of, so it is realistic as far as gameplay goes, however names of officers and titans are made up, but the names and operations are not:

As part of operation Perun, the Pan Asian Coalition's primary objective, was to utilize diversionary strikes against, the European Union's African wall, in oder to distract the Union's attention from the Coalition's main body element, aimed at penetrating, engaging and destroying the Unions premiere units located within the confines of eastern Europe. Operation Perun, as part of three diversionary strike Operations, targeted the Suez Canal, which served the Union's “eastern gate†into Africa. The PAC, utilized 1 brigade of heavy ground units , 2 mobile air units, consisting of two type III coalition titan's the “Pushnovik†and the “Mishev†both supporting three squadrons of tactical aircraft, and one squadron of support aircraft.
The EU, although facing heavy PAC forces from the western desert, the Union base located at the Suez canal was the primary staging area for its south western titan command. The canal housed, the American annexed 4th infantry division, the 227th aviation regiment and medley of other support units, among those to be mentioned was the 347th royal Air defense artillery brigade, which played a primary role in the defense of the PAC attack on the Suez canal.
To attack the EU's position, the PAC relied on both Titan's to transport assets into the field of battle, Although many other titans were utilized in the delivery of the PAC's ground assets, many of the support units were used to form a blockade around the Island of Cyprus, where the PAC had commandeered as a staging area for their African operations. Similarly, the EU employed their own Titan fleet consisting of 2 titans, the “Indomitable†and the “Iron Lady†both host to the Union's premier aviation unit the 227th Attack.
The Initial attack resulted in a massive loss of initiative on the PAC side, as the complex, network of EU air defense, had left the Mishev, completely disabled 25k north of the canal, where the Mishev, had inadvertently stumbled into the vast web of anti-aircraft, nestled in the Egyptian desert belonging to the EU, no-fly zone a stretch of 3,000k that was used as an early warning, and red air zone to deny any attempts of regional aerial infiltration or flank into EU territory's.
The Mishev fortunately wandered into a 50k wedge of the anti-air network hoping to shoot the gap, to enagage the canal from the shipping lanes to the north east, however bad PAC intelligence from PACCOM, located in Cyprus misjudged the end of the 50k area, to be 8k north of where the Mishev made it's forced halt at low altitude, taking severe damage, rendering it shielding and weapon systems in operable However although loosing the Mishev dealt a considerable blow the the attack initiative of the PAC ground forces, The Mishev dispatched its remaining ground units to crawl across the stretch of desert best known to EU Pilots, as “the Devil's Barbecue†as no PAC ground unit, leaving the Mishev ever made it across 25k stretch of desert.
The EU dispatched 2 dozen UD-6 attack aircraft, that shredded the helpless armor column clanking towards the EU garrison. The horrendous char mark, stretched just short of the historical, 20th century controversial bombing of Saddam Hussein's retreating republican guard forces out of Kuwait City, 1991 by 300ft. The Mishev was destroyed by an attack effort, coordinated by LTC Allen Clements, The commander of the Indomitable, he Utilized the 347th royal ADA, to strike the Mishev's weapon and targeting systems, which allowed for assault teams led by 1st LT Thomas, McKay, to eliminate the remaining PAC forces aboard the Mishev, and destroying her reactor core.
EU fortifications sustained minor damage by PAC forces. The total engagement lasted less than 1 week of intense fighting, and the Air camping lasted less than 30 hours with complete loss of PAC aircraft, surrendered to the Egyptian dunes, the primary source of security for ground forces had been eliminated, by EU air efforts rendering easy targets and combined attack axis' for EU gorund forces.
The ending result for PAC ground efforts accomplished little, dazed and demoralized by the relentless assault's by Union air assets, it was difficult for PAC ground troops to make headway into the bulk of EU fortifications, and PAC moral soared when ever an EU aircraft was destroyed. The defining moment for one PAC company, occurred when their company commander Maj. Nikolas Crushov led a frontal assault against the eastern bridge lock, which was the entry point into the main body of EU forces. His assault last for about 5 and a half hours, as his mechanized infantry company tore through bridge defenses and pushed directly into the EU armor staging area. Although his attack was audacious and swift, It ended abruptly as the EU conducted a counter attack and the PAC company was cut to ribbons, by Talon Gunships, and pounded by the Indomitable's titan guns,
The Pushnik, made a frontal assault of the canal, just after Crushov's forces had captured the bridge. By approaching form the south east the Pushnik was able to avoid, the majority of EU anti-titan efforts, but allowing the main body of PAC ground forces to act as a buffer between the two. The Pushnik was intercepted by the Iron Lady, the EU's African flag ship, and her internal armament of the 1st Platoon, 3rd Company of the 4th infantry division. Just as colonial naval warfare of centuries past, the two titans, grappled in the sky above the canal for 3 hours, both ship's dispatching boarding party's to destroy one another from the inside out, eventually, the valiant efforts of the EU forces, prevailed, dealing a critical blow the the Pushnik's bridge, via a Mk V anti-titan missile, the PAC forces, aboard the Pushnik lost flight due to the loss of their right engine and bridge, the Pushnik began to float menacingly towards the ground below as both EU and PAC forces aboard scrambled to evacuate the wounded and attack teams off the failing titan, EU forces were able to evacuate all their personnel, and led aid to PAC wounded struggling to exit their titan. The impact of the Pushnik, destroyed it's deteriorated hull and claimed 36 lives total aboard, the destruction of the Pushnik signaled surrender to the remaining PAC forces and outstanding victory to European forces, stationed at the Suez canal
With the failed attack of PAC forces on the Suez canal, PACCOM, reconsolidated assets to attack at Minsk, and Verdun and would later lead a successful assault against the Suez canal, pushing back the EU forces to stronghold in Ethiopia, consequently, In 2143 the EU would regain their lost Suez canal, a contributing factor in the EU victory, in end of the War in 2147
