Apparently it had a massive update and is no longer trash. I've been watching Shroud play for a bit and I'm going to reinstall. I loved it for a while but it never got updated so I bailed. Now that its back I'm gonna give it a shot again.

I played waaaaaaay back when it was still a mod for ArmA 2. And played maybe a month or two of the standalone. The game promised so much that hasn't been delivered or was delivered stupidly late. It's too little too late for a game that's been out since 2013 promising to be a big hit. Games like rust have capitalized on the whole open world survival and out done dayz standalone in every regard. Hell, Brian Hicks, the dude that's been at the forefront of dayz since 2013 just left Bohemia Interactive. Don't get me wrong the game looks amazing and I look forward to what they can do in the future, but the recent hype is really artificial because shroud and summit got paid to play the game to bring attention back to the game. Radical Heights did the same thing, pay the popular streamers to play the game for a few days, and where are they now barely a month out from that? Their game is closing and so is the developer studio. Streamer publicity is a really short term bandaid on the gunshot wound this game has at this point. DayZ has and will be in "beta" for the foreseeable future. It's just another update that will be forgotten once these streamers dump the game because it isn't interesting in its current state.

We'll see. A lot of stuff coming out in the next 12 months. Will be quite thrilling to watch.

I have been messing around with this again. Got the bug after watching Summit run into Smoke. Watched a fight between them happen on both their streams

It was such a good alpha I hope they can pull it from the grave.

over 500 hours here. I know how running works baby. I used to have a small flat head that I would wedge in-between buttons so my guy could run while i got a sandwich or drink.

So many good memories of DayZ.... its how i ended up as part of TBG

Bamajuggernaut and I played a good amount of this over the winter and it's a MUCH better game now. There are now vehicles so the walking simulator has been somewhat remedied but getting a vehicle running can easily be an all day enterprise. They have also added base building but it's a very mixed bag. It takes a ton of resources and they aren't very secure but it can give you good fighting positions if you're on a server that has some PvP. On the down side, everything is still written in cyrillic so there's no making heads or tails of the written word.

I've been playing quite a bit lately. The server I frequent is a 'hardcore' server, and thus loot can be a bit more scarce and the military rifles are capped and generally all spoken for by factions so you have to seek out interactions to have a shot at one. The nice thing about this server is that the basebuilding has been made more secure by the admins by limiting the tools that can be used to break into a base as well as the time and wear/tear mechanic. DayzUnderground is the server.

As for the russian signs, look up the Izurvive map. It is invaluable.
