Broken heel?

Hi there. just wondering if anyone has ever broken their heel? I busted mine a month ago and been in a cast since. I have a vertical fracture straight down the middle. My doc says 3 more weeks and wondering how the walking will be when I get it off. crutch life sucks...o_O
 
I've heard it takes a while to heal them. No pun intended. A couple people I know bought canes for the first few weeks then weaned themselves off of it.
 
I guess a cane wouldn't be too bad. Just being able to use my foot to push my clutch in will be nice. I've been using a baseball bat to drive.
 
I had that exact thing and i used a walker, its really a godsend because you need to keep pressure off it or it will take a while....think of it like a cut in between your thumb and finger, since you always use your hand it always reopens and takes forever to heal...same thing with the heel

Yeah it takes some practice to get the baseball bat clutch driving thing down, especially here in Orange County traffic where it's stop and go.
I was snowboarding and hit a jump I shouldn't have and got some air and landed right on my front foot heel. There was just a little powder on top and hardpack underneath and my boots are pretty stiff. I don't know how it happened really.

Yeah I should really take it easy . don't want to screw it up permanently. there are some knee walker things i saw that look pretty cool.

Mine was basketball in college, i came down of a dunk and landed straight legged....im lucky my knee held togeter, but i fractured my heel and it SUCKED trying to move around....but definitely keep it easy, you can always retrain those muscled but fucking up that bone will haunt you forever
 
Yeah JJ, I think my leg was too stiff on the landing. Hopefully I will get this cast of next week. I never realized how hard life can be when you cant use a foot. Be careful dudes!

I broke my heel at football practice in 9th grade. I was in a hard cast for 9 weeks and a walking cast for 6 weeks. It was terrible.
