My brother gifted me the game which he got from someone else... so I'll be playing this. You can bet your ass I'm not buying any shit for it though. Motherfucker Chris Roberts got 13 million dollars for this shit? That's just obscene. It's sad that David Braben scraped a ninth or a tenth of that for a game concept and approach which I think is much more exciting/serious/realistic.

Cryengine fly-bys and models apparently net you millions.

Yeah, I think not many were around for Elite that still play games, or really got into it, so I don't think many know about the technical achievement coding it and how it felt playing it - or about David Braben's legacy.

It's sad but I guess Braben is mostly a geeky programmer while Roberts is a marketer... and guess who gets the money.

I guess I'm glad Elite is still a thing. All those years eyeballing space sims only to have them turn out unfinished or into the arcade trash discount bin and waiting for something to happen.

Now, if someone worthwhile resurrects the Descent: Freespace series...

I really enjoyed freespace. that would be pretty awesome.

however I'm still very excited by the possibilities of this project.
