"Your handsome ass grandfather had 1 blade...and polio." LOL nice find

So...I got the razor and blades in a conveniently plain brown wrapper on Saturday. I love that they send it to you like's it's some sort of sex toy or porn. I've had a beard for the last two months so I took the hair clippers, knocked most of my beard off and tested out the Dollar shave club Deluxe.

Let me tell you, just like the ad says, those blades are fucking great. This is the closest shave I've ever had except for a straight razor. No cuts, no nicks, no bullshit, just one good very close shave.

Doing that would have ruined one of my Gillette razors after shaving off the remnants of the beard and all, but the Dollar Shave Club's razor was just as sharp when I was done, and their glide strip wasn't gone afterwards like the Gillette's.

So, can I recommend this to anyone? Fuck yes.

Which blades did you go with?

I got some of the two blade razors. I used one to shave my head and face (I use a double sided Merkur safety razor for my face typically). The shave was great and the blades still sharp. The shave isn't as close as with my Merkur, but that is to be expected. I did the math, and I can actually use a new blade every day to shave my head for cheaper than going with the Gillette quad blade junk - which my hair gets caught in.
I think I'll stick with the Merkur for my face, since it is a smoother/closer shave and is easier on my face.

I tried out Dollar Shave Club's 2X razors. Here's my report!

A little shave history for me...

Started shaving at about 15. Used an electric. That shit burned. Initially just the 'stache, but later on a spotty beard too.
Moved to a Gillette Fusion at 17. 5 blades were too many. Got a great shave, but always had shave-burn on my chin. Fuck that.
At 18 took a stop to a Gillette Mach3. Worked pretty damn well overall--shaved reliably and without burn. Close shave too.

Now at 22, I've jumped over to the Dollar Shave Club's 2-blade concoction. It's ok. If you shave every day as it is, it'll be a great deal for you. The razors cut pretty close (but not as close as my Mach3). I personally went from looking clean for about 36 hours to now just 24. I used to work an evening shift (12-9) and then a morning shift (9-5) on 1 shave, looking a bit rough at the end. It's $1 for the blades and $2 for shipping. They really do OK. No cuts or nicks yet. The lube strip stays slippery. Works well with my Barbasol.

Bottom line? The 2X works great if you're shaving daily. It shaves money. I'm thinking of trying out the 4X--to see if that cuts closer. I'm definitely going to skip the 6X--if 5 blades hurt like hell, why would 6 help? Oh, and fuck Gillette!

These guys have been advertising like crazy on the Opie and Anthony channel on XM, glad to hear the product is good. I think I might give it a try, but I don't shave but once a week because I don't fucking have to for work.

I wouldn't ever try the 2x, my facial hair is too thick, but the 4X works great and doesn't clog. It's all I've been using and I still consider these blades to be the best I've ever used for shaving.

I've also taken to using the shave butter. It keeps my face from feeling dried out during the day, which here in TX with much lower humidity than Florida or even GA, is noticeable.

I'm going to try the 4x in my next order. I also use the shave butter and it works really well. Its very handy since I shave my balding scalp.
I think I will stick with the 2x for my head and the 4x for my face.
