Price Gouging? LT THX Z-550

CAMSDIGITAL the amazon merchant who is selling must be trying to scam people then.

Nice I love that one. Alway wanted to buy it.

To be fair, those speakers pretty much suck (compared to real hi-fi).

? I have the Z-5300e and what it comes down to is your sound card. 3D sound is great. I can shake walls and turn it to max. And not get any poping
Logitech isn't hi-fi. The closest they come is their $1300 Transporter SE. Their speakers are OK for computer audio though I certainly wouldn't replace my loudspeakers or headphones with them--even if they were free.

Sid, get them if you really want them, best speakers I have ever had.. Beats my yamaha in the other room.

You sir are through sir. You dont understand the power that comes from this. I live in a concrete building with floors, walls and celings are all concret and the neighbors have complained. The sound is first class I assure you, its like nothing I have ever heard.

Then you haven't heard that much. There's more than wall-shaking power to consider. I've heard some truly jaw-dropping systems that make those Z-5500's sound like Skullcandies. Those can't hold half a candle to a pair of B&W 802D's powered by a McIntosh MC602 with a McIntosh C2200 preamp & a quality D/A converter. My own setup (currently headphones) isn't bad either but even my AKG K702's pale in comparison.

OK what it comes down to though is I paid $375 there is nothing else out there for the price that gives you this kind of performance.

Bobsama that's comparing apples to really expensive hookers (sry, I mean escorts).

- A good quality receiver, a nice pair of mains and a good sub will blow the Z-5500 away but that being said, the z-5500 are one of the best computer speaker systems that you can purchase and the Z-5300 can certainly hold their own against other high end computer speakers systems.

I'd still prefer $200 on a receiver and $150 on a pair of vintage bookshelf speakers. I'm particularly partial to Polk's Monitor series (c. 1984-91). (I have a pair of small Monitor 5's and big SDA-1's) but there's plenty of others. The closest thing I've come to computer speakers that I like were Mini Maggies.

The Z-5500's aren't the best at a price either, for computer speakers. I've heard good things about Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's though there are grumblings that they have unreliable amps (sort like Phase Linear). Otherwise, I'm sure there's many better near-field monitors for the price.
