what would run faster, two intel 80gb x25m (2nd gen) in raid zero, or one intel 520 - 180gb?

all other specs the same, core i7, 16gb ram, etc.

The two ssd's are from the current build. the 180 is new. I figured boot and most programs from the two 80's in raid. steam on the 180.

thoughts?

I would check to see if the x25m's and your controller support TRIM in raid0 if not in the end it will probablybe slower. The 520 series is pretty dope every paycheck I almost buy one but no one carries the 240 retail here (Microcenter might they just opened one where I am).

TRIM in Raid came to intel controllers and drives about a year ago. But not all of them support it.

Doesn't matter much in an X58, but if your controller supports raid 0 I'd go with that option for pure speed but I like a larger drive personally so the two smaller ones would not be my preference.

I run the 520 in my system with an i7 and 16 gigs of RAM, that drive is smokin fast in that setup. You can't go wrong in my opinion with the 520 in your setup, can't speak to the two smaller drives.
