About "Battle For Europe"

Battle For Europe is a campaign style tournament for Call Of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4. Upon registration players will be randomly assigned to one of 2 regiments as a private for the coalition or opposition forces; and from there one of eight unique companies. The simulated war is fought out week by week over titanic 12 hour battles every Wednesday and Saturday for Call of Duty 4, with Call of Duty 2 being fought on Sundays for 8 hours. A campaign of fighting lasts between 6 and 8 weeks, at the end of which a new campaign starts with new regiments and new officers!
A map shows the progress of the two armies as they fight for control of Europe and the Middle East, territories changing hands as victories are secured! Players can earn promotions and medals for deeds of valor both on and off the battlefield, starting off as a private and working their way up the NCO ranks. Officers commissions are issued at the start of the campaign so players can serve as officers, devising battlefield strategies and leading their men to victory!
Theres a wealth of other ways in which someone can show their talent, with graphics organizations, the tournament news network, the public relations team, forum moderators, server admins to name a few!
BFE has a very active and lively community. Most interaction apart from the battlefield takes place in the forums, were even players that do not play in the current campaign drop by from time to time to talk with old friends and see what's going on. A common saying in the forums is that whoever leaves BFE will come back at some time, which has proven to be true in most cases. Though clans do not play a role in the BFE system, a number of clans play in BFE with all members (often divided on both sides) and do also form a vital part of the BFE community. Several players have stayed in BFE for years now, being called "vets", while new players have also joined in every campaign. The mixture of "vets" and (newbies) has ensured that the discussions in the forums have never become boring. BFE has actually helped to establish some real-life friendships.
Without a doubt BFEs style of gameplay is the way forward for internet gaming and is the best tournament of its type. Providing an organized, fun and friendly environmental thats as hacker and smacktard free as possible is a winning formula that keeps people coming back for more!

Is this like a clan?

No. We are not a clan. We do not rely on any external organizations, ladders, clubs, or groups for this tournament. BFE has its own schedule, servers, administrators, forums, and armies - everything needed to run independently and entirely on its own. Individuals and members of clans are welcomed to join!

What are the requirements to join "Battle For Europe"?

You must have your own legal copy of Call of Duty 4.
You must have a set of speakers and a if possible a mic.
You must download and use TeamSpeak.
You must visit the forums as much as possible.
You must have fun!

How often do these forces fight each other, and for how long?

Official Battle days are every Wednesday and Saturday. Battles start from 11am EST (4pm GMT) and end at Midnight EST (5am GMT). We play 6 hours for the first half, then have a short hour break then continue on 2nd half for another 6 hours.

Do I have to play the entire time?

No. You can play as much as you can or as little as you want. Some players can hammer out the whole lot, and others can only put in 1 hour.

Do I have to follow the orders of higher ranking players?

Yes. To achieve the level organization we strive for here, it is important that orders be followed and carried out.

How can I advance my rank?

One word, PARTICIPATE. Show up for practices, show up for battles, take part in discussions on the forums, hang out on the TS server, get to know your officers. That will get you started. Then it all depends on your qualities as a leader, and that is a more complicated thing.

Is this a very competitive tournament? Is the atmosphere cutthroat?

"Battle For Europe" stresses teamwork, strategy, organization, friendship, and most of all fun! The members here take playing the game in the campaign very seriously. They came to "Battle For Europe" looking for organization and to get away from the chaos/anarchy that takes place in the public servers.
