So here's what's happening. I did well on my Spring term grades and, after a little gift-giving, am getting a computer upgrade. I've been saving up for a while now. Not an entirely new system, but it's completing my refresh.

Pictures as of 24 May 2011
Mystery Part #1
Mystery Part #2

I'll take a new picture and outline the new main's specs.

Good night.

LOL @ Thread

Well when you replace that radeon and get at a minimum an i7-2600K running @ 5Ghz then we will talk.

Two case fans (front: 140mm, rear: 120mm), three component fans (CPU: 120mm, PSU: 140mm, GPU: 6?cm). I was thinking of buying some more Yate Loon fans from Petra's Tech Shop but apparently he sold it. I'm going to go take pictures and I'll be back to reveal the first part I ordered. The second part will be known tomorrow. The third part the day after.

Yeah I only have 4 on my main. I'll stick the Raptor 150's in RAID0 and leave the Caviar Black 1TB alone.

I actually just canceled and slightly changed my order. Details on Item #1 are coming!!

Summers going to let you know really quick if you need more fans. My temp have been shooting up. Last night it was in the mid 70's. I was at 123 F. and I have no more room for more fans but you would think 3 180mm 2 120mm and 1 80mm would be enough :(

Oh god the horror so many PCI slots. Well since your being a royal jackass I just though you might want to know that You will need a bigger monitor. Oh and point the flash at the ceiling and compensate for this on the power it will eliminate glare on the case and make a natural looking photo... Oh wait you cant can you... sorry my bad.

I've actually used all 3 before. WiFi, Firewire, and a gigabit NIC. As for the camera tricks, I don't particularly care. I know a few of them for DSLRs (I've done event photography quite a bit) but I'm just using a Nikon point-and-shoot in a poorly lit room.

And what is this BS about needing a bigger monitor? I'm saving my money for a trio of UltraSharp 21.5" screens. That'll hopefully come for December.

Well I guess that qualifies :p I am probably avoiding triple monitor due to resolution constraints but going for a 27 inch monitor mainly to double as a PS3 monitor.

Don't get me wrong I'd love a single 2560x1600 monitor, but a trio of 1920p screens (in portrait mode) would be kick-ass and costs less.

So far you failed to deviate from - http://www.tbgclan.com/f15/bridging-gap-11612/ but you are going to so :p

So mystery part # 2 = not and im tight lipped on the mobo which isnt there but which btw uses that damn etron usb 3.0 controller so please use the hell out of it and let me know how it goes so i can make a decision.

You need to figure out your own damn motherboard. I'll tell you how I think the one I selected and will reveal tomorrow is. UPS says my package is in New Stanton, PA so it can't be too long before it arrives. If I'm really lucky, it'll be here tomorrow. If I'm unlucky, I'm looking more towards Monday or Tuesday (which would royally piss me off).

Oh, yeah. I did say I'd "reveal" the last part (the motherboard).

GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

The only thing that I don't like about the motherboard is it doesn't come with a USB 3.0-header bracket. The header is on the motherboard but it's kinda useless in that state.

I'm expecting the package in tomorrow. UPS reports that it's headed for Latham, NY--my nearest UPS depot. That means it'll be on the truck on Friday.

I sent you a pm im gonna buy the front ports with header from gigabyte and assuming the headers are right i will have a pci plate usb 3 with header you can have.

OK so I've been a bit busy lately. I finally got my first overclock after a flurry of minor issues. I can't believe I didn't think to reset the BIOS until this morning (I got the package and built on Friday)!! I finally did and then reinstalled Windows 7 twice. (After first time I used the fast setting on the drivers CD and found some stupid crap that I couldn't quickly uninstall; the second time was to fix that.)

Here's the review I'm doing on the motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 (Write-Up In Progress) - XtremeSystems Forums

Here's the overclocks so far:

I also benched the RAID-0 array. (I moved to a 320GB drive for the OS and the 3x150GB for programs & games.)
