This fix is for those who might have experienced constant crashing after 30 seconds / minute after the new patch, or increased crashing overall.
So far has worked for about 90% of the people who have tried it. This is also a fix from the players...and not from DICE who still remains unaware of the many problems their patch has caused.

FREEZE, BLACK SCREEN, CRASH TO DESKTOP FIX:


Windows 7/Windows Vista 32 bit
* In Windows 7/Vista go to Start menu. Go to Accessories. Locate the command prompt shortcut and hover mouse over it. Right Click on the shortcut then select Run as Administrator.
* In the command prompt type this exactly:

bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2500

Then hit enter.
* Make sure you get a message back confirming the change was made. To verify the entry is there you can type just bcdedit, hit enter, and you should see the entry now listed.
* Then close the command prompt. You just told Vista to increase user virtual address (userva) space to 2500MB.
* Changes take effect on reboot.
Now reboot the PC because Windows needs to set the userva at 2500 which only happens after startup.

If you skip any step it will not work. When you have rebooted you should be good to go. Run the game as normal with the original game shortcut.

TO UNDO THE CHANGES
Open command prompt as administrator and type: bcdedit /deletevalue increaseuserva. That deletes the entry.
Reboot and you are back to normal.


If 2500 doesnt work for you, up it to 3072
 
So i guess the question is have you confirmed with dice that they are unaware of all the known issues. In which obtaining such confirmation would make them aware? :p It's kinda like all the people writing console exploit info on public forum saying "(X Company) doesn't know ..." when that company employs people like you and me to read these things. Just about every bug has been posted on twitter and the forums. EA knows and if dice doesn't they have someone emailing them the important, non repeated, non idiot error cause problems.

Being aware of an issue and knowing the cause along with finding a solution without causing another problem are not the same thing. The very nature of the design often means not being able to fix something without changing something else which requires more testing since new bugs were likely introduced in such a major change.

The other which is more evident in consoles is DICE might (not sure how EA manhandles this particular company) not be able to release any fix simple or major without EA's approval since they are the publisher. On consoles you have an extra step since Microsoft/Sony want's to do their own testing along with the fact they handle the signing.

Nothings simple. This particular "fix" would only be something they could suggest after further testing of course.
 
Not sure why this fixes your issue Vengeance. bcdedit is a command line command to adjust boot options. It is what effectively replaced the boot config in older versions of Windows. There in lies my misunderstanding. How is adjusting boot options affecting game issues? here something to read about it;

Well now that you mention it.

He is changing the user mode virtual address space size for applications from 2GB default to a bit larger. Could temporarily alleviate crashes caused by memory leaks/overuns if I am not mistaken. From what I understand of it the fix would be useless on a 32 bit os (can BF3 even run on?) but should work on 64 bit systems with atleast 6 or 8GB of ram where there is room to allocate more addressable space to the application than 2GB.

I could have that wrong but its my understanding of it.
 
I was freezing 5 to 10 minutes into the game. The freezes look like a screen shot or the screen turns orange, black or gray.
 
I never said it fixed it for me. I haven't tried it. I do know however its helped 90-95% of the people on the Origin forums who have tried it.

Waiting on my new GPU before I try to play BF3 again.
