There is more detail now, less need for FOW to cover up lower quality renderings. Its not night/day but if you look close enough you see the changes.

Interesting how the colour palette is completely different between the two games. Karkand was the orangest map in BF2; but the BF3 version seems to be the same colours as the rest of the new maps.

Orange is more realistic if you've ever been to the middle east and experienced a 7 day dust storm. LOL. That's all you see for days as the dust in the air mutes out the sunlight.
