Battlefield 3′s anti-cheat software has huge privacy issues

I'm not digging that policy at all.... I might have to delete those government secrets I've been hiding.... Seriously though, who wants someone to have unlimited rights to "inspect" your files. Personal information could be on your PC like Job applications, design patents, private photos, kids photos, etc.

They're referring to PB screenshots while you're in game. If you have played any BF game since 1942 you've been doing it the whole time. I love how now all of a sudden it's an issue.

It's an issue now because people are becoming aware of it which is funny to me.

That also include scanning files in your HD as cheat uses s/w for certain thing (i'm not a specialist - as my stat proves it :)), but they do scan your file system to find cheat s/w.
BF2 had a CVAR/MD5 test that include 30 to 40 cheating executable or dll files to check.
But you are right they always did.
I guess the difference is that they allow them to scan your whole file system!

Anyway, I would more care about virus/spyware scanning my PC than punkbuster!

badaang you're right they do MD5 checksums to ensure that game files haven't been altered. They also check for file names of known cheats in your game directory and scan your memory for DLL injectors. I have a much bigger issue with Origin's EULA than I ever did with PB or Evenbalance.

The biggest point they for got to add is that it still doesn't catch any anybody

It seems to be working pretty well right now. 1362 bans in a few weeks.

PBBans | MBi - Latest 50 Battlefield 3 Bans

The thing to remember about PB is that they run silent detection/logging. Just because someone is hacking right now doesn't mean they haven't been caught. PB waits until they have a significant number of people caught before they issue the ban so as not to tip their hand. It just seems that there are a lot of hackers in BF3.

Cause Battlefield is harder.. Kids can't handle the heat! Haha, people need to get their poop in a group xD
