So I got an email today from Blizzard saying they locked my battle.net account due to suspicious activity. No clue to any specifics at all. I've been away from my computer for 9 days as I've been out of town. So I follow the ridiculous Rube Goldberg chain of links and try to get my account unlocked following their guidelines. There comes a page that requests your email (easy enough, it's obviously the one they sent the account locked email to), then they ask for first name and last name (also fairly easy). It won't work, keeps sending an error that the name and email don't match, tried usernames and anything I could think of that I might have possibly used, nada. So I decide to submit a support ticket to try and get this straightened out, well you can't submit a support ticket (which they recommend you to do if you have this problem) without logging in. I cannot login, so I decide to call their North America support number, the message says we are too busy to take your call please call back later. This is really obnoxious, the game wasn't free but the truth is I don't play it all that much and wouldn't lose a ton of sleep over not being able to play it anymore. However, they locked my Battle.net account which means I can't play ANY Blizzard games, again I don't play often at all but I do love Starcraft. I'm torn between calling them a couple more times or just writing Blizzard off. I guess I'll just call them again after work tomorrow but I hate to lose access to an otherwise standout game developer. They have a link to an account verification process that is to put it mildly "intrusive". It requires you to download and fill out by hand a form with all kinds of personal information including phone number and scan of current valid government issued ID. If that is ultimately the route they require me to travel I will have to sadly part ways with one of the few remaining competent game builders. Fucking hackers are the truest of cowards.
