If possible, the reason that you might have got banned for: Text spamming empty strings.
Any additional comments you would like to add? I spilled some water on my keyboard and it failed. None of my keys would work as they were supposed to so I couldn't quit. Pressing escape would cause steam to take ~ 20 screen shots in a row, f4 wouldn't work, coudln't alt-tab and quit. I actually think alt-f4 was the cause of text spam. As a result, I somehow sent tons of text spam as the result of trying to figure out if any of my keys would work to quit. Eventually, I just had to restart my PC and plug in a new keyboard.
I'm not sure if I was banned or what, but every time I try to join I get kicked.
