First, this is an easter egg hunt; only certain X3's will work. Processors made during the 46th & 51st weeks of 2008, plus 4th & 6th weeks of 2009. This can be found with a date stamp on the CPU. Also, to unlock the core and certain MB is needed; mostly the AMD 790FX or GX chipsets will have to BIOS feature (ACC). The only processors that currently unlock are the Phenom II X3 710; trying to unlock CPU's outside the time frames will lock up your CPU....good luck for 100 bones
 
I heard about this when I first bought this thing. Apparently the reasoning behind this being possible is the demand for tri-core processors was so high that they had to use already established quad-cores and shut down a core. It's like winning the lottery. Sadly enough, I didn't win...
