I found this really cool article outlining the different between the SSD's. Good reading. The nvme is WAY faster.

nvme m.2 that is

M.2 will always be faster. It is integrated into the Mobo. Crazy little things. If I recall a standate SATA SSD only transfers 6GBPS (Maybe slughtly more?) while a NVME M.2 blazes at 16 to 32GBPS.
