If you going crossfire it nice to have a MB that has some slots between; otherwise its drawing heat from the other card below it; that is where water cooling in SLi or Crossfire so important. I notice there are many options for the 5870's and wondering if the die is located in the same spot? That might be something you have to research.

IMO the stock cooler really is the best. I really don't like these custom coolers where they blow a lot of heat back into the case...

Then again, based on your case setup, it might not be a bad thing. It would be for my case, because the airflow is streamlined front-back mostly...
