Hello everyone,

In about 10 months time, the 10 year anniversary of BF4 will be up on us. To this end, I want to make a great tribute video for this wonderful game. Battlefield 4 is my favorite game of all time, and I spent over 2800 hours playing this game - by far the most amount of time I spent on a single game.

I have over ~48GB of footage of my gameplay between Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 4 CTE.

What I want to do is to create a single video which will take the best clips from 10 years of gameplay, and make something interesting out of it. I am just looking for ideas. How should I structure this? What makes a great and entertaining video in your opinion?

I am not a very good editor. My skills are pretty basic. Here is an example of what I consider my “best” work.

I made this video when Battlefield 4 was no longer my mail MP game, and I wasn’t going to play it every day like I used to.

From a technical perspective, when I first started playing Battlefield 4, I was playing the game at 1920x1080 resolution, and then moved to 2560x1440 and finally at 3440x1440. Would it even be possible to create a video with these different resolutions?

Just note - This is not something I am doing for monetization. My YT channel (such as it is) is not monetized, I have no intention of pursuing monetization on YT or any other video platform. This is purely a passion project. I like editing videos, I like playing video games, and this brings those two hobbies together.

Thank you for any feedback!

Most video editors will allow you to export the final render as whatever res you want. If you recorded at 1080p you should be able to upscale it higher but upscaling to ultrawide it might look pretty weird. Only one way to know for sure.

I installed DaVinci resolve, and I will test it out. I played with it a bit, and its a lot more complicated than Vegas Pro 14, which I have been using for many years.

I will see how it looks when I combine a 1080p, 1440p and 3440x1440 as a single clip. Hopefully it won't look too bad!

I use Resolve as well, but you're right it's VERY complicated. You might have to really put in some effort to normalize all those different resolution clips into one smooth looking output, but dunno how much.

I managed to create a test video with clips of different resolutions -

I used Rumble because YT was having some issues with the video. Odysee will not let me upload it either, so I went with Rumble.

@pcase - if you could watch it and let me know what you think, I would appreciate it!

I am going to begin working on this again. I did not get to this for months, but the anniversary is only 216 days away. Ideally, I want to be done with this by October 1, 2023.

I will post more updates over the course of the next few weeks. I have gotten pretty decent with DaVinci resolve, and this is the program I am going to use to compose my magnum opus (so to speak lol).

For this, I will appreciate any feedback.

Turns out I was being very ambitious when I said I was going to begin working on this project. I just did not get the time to spend on this, but I literally have DaVinci resolve open now, and I am going put together something.

I will post an update by the end of this weekend (Sunday June 4, 2023).

Ok, little bit of a change in direction. I am going to group all the clips per map. I found all the loading tracks. I am going to try to work a few maps per week.

I still don't know how I am going to do intros and outro.

Any ideas on this? Also, at this rate, the video is going to over 30 minutes long!

Sorry for necroing! But this is a really cool idea, some members could participate in helping you with this. I know some people who could add a funny aspect to your clip!
