I have never used SSD Hard Drives so I know nothing about them. I have always used your standard clunky metal HD's.

My HD is crunching and munching and I do not believe it has much time left. What do you look for in SSD HD's?

How big does it need to be for Windows 8.1 and Battle Field 4?

If all you were installing is BF4 and Windows 8.1 then 64 gb would work :p You can install windows 8.1 on 16gb of drive space easy. Games are a different story. I game on my windows tablet which is 32gb. I personally see anything under 250gb as useless.

I got a 180GB SSD and split it into a few parts as a dedicated OS drive. And then everything else is on a 1tb main drive

You would have to get a SSD bigger if you want clone your current HDD. If your doing a fresh install of windows than I would go with a 250GB.

I have 2 ssds one with OS on it and other random shit one for BF4 both are 120 gig I only got the second cause it was on sale for like 80 bucks. and then I have my 1tb that I keep all the porn... errr other stuff on

I use a 250 for OS and software and another 128 for BF4 and a few other bits then a 15TB server for all other files and HTPC. SSD's make a huge difference with loading times. It was even better when they were less popular and you could gurantee first in a BF3/Bf4 server so got a choice of any vehicle.

Reliability and warranty are probably the most important things to consider.

Getting an SSD will be a Night/Day difference. You will seriously ask yourself, "Why the fuck did I wait this long for an SSD". Your PC will just be faster overall. From booting/loading applications and installing them. I had a 256GB SSD and had BF 3/4 WoW and BF CTE along with Windows 8.1 and still had a some room left. I now have a 512GB SSD and it's more then enough space. If you're recording videos etc then I would just purchase a standard HD later for that. It really just boils down to how much $$ you want to dish out. I would suggest a 256/512GB. Samsung is the best hands down. With that being said there is nothing wrong with the other top brands out there in relation to quality.

I should also point out that copying over your current HD to an SSD is stupidly easy and wouldn't worry about that. With all the software out there it will take you 10-30mins. Unless you plan on doing a fresh install.

** I would jump on Killingseeds SSD if it was me looking to purchase a new one. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

Yeah, a NIB 240gb for $80.00? If I didn't have a similar sized SSD already I'd jump on that one. Kingston makes good drives, and really all SSD are damn near indestructible for 99% of users.

I have a 120 hyper x from Kingston that I just record to and then move it to one of my mechanicals. they make good drives... similar speeds to samsung. The best quality is Samsung though... hands down.
