Upgrading

The 500 GB I found is an SSD. I will install it alongside the 1TB as the storage drive for recording. I don't think I have enough money for 16 GB of ram though....

No matter, 16 would be great if you're doing a heavy amount of video editing daily, but 8gb is just fine, especially considering that you're getting a 500gb ssd. I've got a 256gb ssd and after games, programs, the OS, I have about 170gb free space. You'll have more than enough room on the SSD and a backup HD for your videos. It's a great time to get an SSD too since the prices have finally started to come down.

Well I'm not really going daily. I generally record, edit out what I want with VDub, then actually do rendering in Vegas...and thankfully the SSD was free...so no cost worries at all. (=

Getting 50fps with my PNY Gtx 460 with the same CPU and 4gb ddr3
on ultra

Went up to Fairfax and got the upgrades. Ran a short benchmark test, 70+ FPS Ultra 4x AA Operation Guillotine......

I'm going to blame my internet. Working fine now. Did I test run on Metro with Fraps recording on Ultra...steady 50-60 FPS. Time to go work on sniping for next movie. (=

So what did you actually end up getting Vengeance? I read everything but I was a little confused as to what you got.

Gigabyte Z77X UDH3 Motherboard
Intel i5 2500k CPU
Corsair Vengeance 8 GB Ram (2 4GB sticks)

Good deal. That should make a huge difference with the SSD also. Congrats on the upgrade.
