Bob once asked me why I had not posted any game footage. Well most of its not worth recording? PVP combat is one of the end game challenges that is never ending. Those that make it to level 50 can start gearing toward this sort of challenge. I actually don't PVP and neither does Kubla.

Me and Kubla's PVP history goes way back. He started ahead of me and I surpassed him forever. Until the game got rebalanced and Kubla bought a new ship! Mistakes certainly did not help my cause. Kubla is an Engineering Captain (tank) but he flies a Tactical ship. I am a Tactical captain in a Tactical ship but I have a preference for balanced builds (being able to take hits).

The first round was EPIC Kubka claims it was 15 minutes but either way we spent a long time dishing out blows until FINALLY he dies. So I started recording and the next round was BAD! These are the last 3 rounds and while they went alright they pale in comparison to the first one I failed to record.

Round 3 of 5. End Result Rain 2 Kubla 1.

Round 5 of 5. End Result Rain 3 Kubla 3 DOUBLE KO!

But there bob you can have your boring and thanks to YT horribly compressed footage.

Fun game of tug of war. Can be near 100% with your target down to 6% and end up losing it all after that. Pretty much how the first unrecorded round was all shield management and hull repair until the first man fell.

There's little room for error in PVP. You miss activating an ability (or activate it too quickly) and you're going to die. The first battle was just a slugfest and it was easily 5 minutes long. That doesn't sound like a long time, but with the amount of damage you're doing (and taking) 5 minute battles are epic. You see average of these 3 was about 2 - 2.5 minutes, and they're brutal. For those of you that don't play, the box at the bottom of Rain's screen are the abilities he and his crew has. Clicking on any of those icons activates a certain function, whether it be a shield regen, faster firing cannons, etc. So along with shooting at me and keeping himself alive, he has to maneuver the ship into a position that 1) gives me the strongest shield to hit 2) gives him the optimal firing arc (for Escorts like we're flying, this is straight ahead).

PVP battles in STO in relation to BF3 Metro would be like the point where the US has begun to get a foothold upstairs and, you as a Russian, are trying to force them back down. That teetering point of who fucks up first usually loses.

I happily invite anyone even mildly interested in Star Trek to play the game. Don't get discouraged (W@flez!!) with the beginning of the game. It all starts at 50.
