In case you were not aware, when you lose almost any Android 4.0+ device you actually have built in features for recovery. Most people are not aware even worse some people pay for features to do the same thing. I actually informed a phone store employee today that was clueless about this.

I will tell you our story first but in short, Android Device Manager. Google it, Log in. Simple as that.

So Liz lost her phone last night and after she finished arguing with me I handed her my phone and told her to log into her google account. Unfortunately she had disabled GPS on the device so it was giving us no location. I rang the device which in silent mode will still ring, to make sure it wasn't in the car. Then we set a password because she had none. It allows you to leave a message and a phone number, which they can use that phone to call.

Right away someone called me from her phone. Asked us if we were looking for it. Guy tells me he is on quarterfield road so I ask him is there somewhere I can meet him. He says walmart so I drove to the quarterfield walmart. I call the phone when I get there, apparently he was at the Ordinance road Walmart which is closer to where we were. By the time we got there the phone was dead and we couldn't find the guy. On the last phone call he claimed a crackhead gave it to him and honestly I think he was yanking our chain.

Anyways it shocks me people still don't know about this:

One good reason for you paranoids to leave the GPS on. If your not sure where you left it, you stand a better chance of recovering the device. But all in all the tools here either raise your chance of recovering the device or protecting your data.
