Hey guys,
My name is Dakota and i'm pretty new here and though a good educational post about my most played game might get me some points.
I was watching youtube video and the guy was talking about field of view and i thought to myself what is field of view exactly?
Ask.com states that "Your field of view would be whatever you can see at any given moment. It would include both your direct forward view, as well as anything you can perceive in your peripheral vision."
In the game FOV maxes out at 120 and it looks crazy fish-eyed if you're a 60 degree player like me
Or is it...
i quick look onto wiki showed that humans view through both eyes at "almost 180 Degrees" and i thought that was about right except.... you don't see 180 degrees all the time. So i dug some more and found this
"The central field of vision for most people covers an angle of between 50° to 60°. Within this
angle, both eyes observe an object simultaneously. This creates a central field of greater
magnitude than that possible by each eye separately.
This central field of vision is termed the 'binocular field' and within this field images are sharp,
depth perception occurs and colour discrimination is possible."
Meaning that we don't see 180 all the time we only see (clearly i might add) at 50 - 60 degrees so that explains why the starting FOV is 60. We could say that 120 degrees is made for multiple monitors and it is, but i HIGHLY recommend playing on 100 degrees minimum. Playing on even 70 degrees will increase your FOV 5 degrees on each side and will allow you to see enemies almost around corners. If you've made it this far thanks for reading :3
