Maybe a sniper got you instead or at the same time. Or your health was low. Or it was a head shot. A head shot will do it with just about any weapon. On my server, at least, it only takes on shot from the sniper rifle to put your lights out.

Better, not to guide them at all. Line up your shot with your helicopter first, seat jump, fire, and then seat jump back. I've killed / burned thousands of walkers, tanks, and infantry this way. I would dare say, I've probably killed more 2142 vehicles with the TV guided missle than anyone...

You can edit the .tweak files for both gunships... to compesate for any advantages you think one has over the other. For example, occassionally the PAC gunship missles will not track on the EU gunship at all, due to the mentioned bug in the EU hitbox mesh... the hitbox not registering at all...
