  1. I know that Dell forbids any and all internal changes by consumers. I can ask though, what their policy is on techs replacing parts....time to go to tech support.

As for building a new system for scratch, I personally have almost no expertise in that area. )=

At the least, I wouldn't mind a better Graphics Card, and possibly a 3GB Processor instead of the 2GB.
I'm grateful for the help and offers so far (=

Perhaps I should start a thread in tech, obtain some advice.

To give you an idea, Vengeance, I just built a decent system for DeathPanx for under 650$. The video card was a 5770, which will play BC2 on high settings.

Send me a PM if you want, and I'll do the same.

  3. Thanks for the offer, but I don't have $650 dollars.
And am unlikely to be able to obtain that.

If I obtain some parts as donations, like Cryptic suggested, I might be able to afford the simpler parts, like a hard drive, or a case.
I believe I have a spare monitor elsewhere.

And Dell said they won't upgrade parts unless purchased from them...
    Saw it coming....

Ahhhhh.......never mind, I just looked it up and it's a laptop. Yeah, you're fucked.
Laptops are for shit for gaming. When you're ready to get a new one, think about building your own desktop PC. It's cheaper, will run better, and you can upgrade cheaply later on. The only negative is there's nobody to hold your hand for tech support which means you need to read and learn how to take care of stuff for yourself.

  5. Right. I made a thread for this, so please stop by if you have advice!!
    Thanks so far everyone! (=

Yeah, only reason I have a laptop is cause I like having something portable for college.
    And desktops can be clunky.

Your right though, they suck for gaming.
