Thread: System Down!

  1. #16
Sounds like everything is going to work out so far. After working in the aircraft business for a while I'd have to say you stand a good chance of cleaning everything out and not having any issues. I was amazed at some of the engine controls state being drenched with synthetic oils, hydraulic fluids and fuels yet still operational. After all, many of these were nothing more than circuit boards with eprom chips and a small cpu in some cases. I've had cases where the component was not functioning due to an internal coolant leak, taken apart and cleaned thoroughly (flushed) with your typical spray on electrical quick drying cleaner and air blasted with 60 psi dry air. The end result was a functioning control. The control I speak of has 6 independent boards some of which were nearly the size and intricacy of a mother board and the coolant used was JP-8 (jet fuel).

As long as the oil in non-conductive you should be alright; I think somebody posted the aquarium computer case filled with oil that still worked. We thats good news short term; hopefully, long term is the same.

Hit it with some Pure Electric cleaner, like Red said. Fair warning though, that shit volatile to say the least. Anytype of spark and you'll have a raging fire on anything it touched. So be sure let it dry for about 10 minutes.
