I am in the market to buy desktop PC to be used as a server. Doesn't have to be new parts. Can be used.

Budget is no more than $1000, as little as $700. The specifications below are what I would prefer, or anything made in the last 2-3 years. This isn't a gaming PC, so I don't need a video card and ultra high-end parts.

Preferred specs:

32 GB RAM.
5th generation Quad-Core Core i7 processor clocked at 2.4-2.8 GHz.
Plenty of storage (multiple 500 GB HDD's).
Good Asus motherboard that has dual Gigabit NIC's.
At least 4 port KVM

Budget is 800, so a $300 cpu, $200 for 32gb of ram, lets finally cheap out when we get to the motherboard $100, first hard drive or 2 of them around another $100, $75 for a powersupply. First 2 requirements seam to nix the idea of having a decent dual nic motherboard and staying under 800 :p

It can be used. Not looking for brand new equipment.

Bump for you

I didn't want to use third-party drivers for the storage controller in VMWare ESX. It's going to be a test lab for AD, Exchange, SCCM, all on Server 2012 :).
